🎬 Coming 2 America
Makeup and hair:
- Mike Marino, Stacey Morris, Carla Farmer

Both the 1998 film and the 2021 remake of Coming 2 America star Eddie Murphy. The original special effects makeup was designed by the legendary Rick Baker, who also received an honorable mention in the credits of this new film. It was also very important for the new film's makeup designer, Mike Marino, that Rick approve him of copying the original film's makeup before he began work.

The film is full of colorful costumes, stunning beauty makeup, spectacular hairstyles, and technically the best special effects makeup in the industry. Eddie Murphy is skillfully disguised as up to four different characters during the film.

🎬 Cruella
Makeup and hair:
- Nadia Stacey, Naomi Donne & Julia Vernon

The film tells the story of the origin of Disney villain Cruella de Vil. Makeup artist Nadia Stacey says she was given free rein to design the makeup, except for Cruella's iconic black and white hairstyle. The hair was also the most challenging part: the black side was much smoother, as the white side of the hair was much more processed, making it difficult to get the same style on both sides. Underneath the wig, actress Emma Stone's own hair was also dyed the same colors. The makeup was heavily influenced by punk icons such as the Sex Pistols and Siouxsie Sioux.
The film features a lot of different makeup, with influences ranging from 50s Christian Dior to David Bowie, masks, rhinestones, newspaper and everything in between. The 70s punk spirit is also evident in Estella's eye makeup, although the look is much more subdued.

The mask-like make-up was done with a stencil and spray paint.

🎬 Dune
Makeup and hair:
- Donald Mowat, Love Larson & Eva von Bahr

Based on the short story by David Villaneuve, the sci-fi film's makeup is subtle and dramatic, with Skarsgård's character Baron Harkonnen being the most talked-about makeup in the film. Makeup artist Donald Mowat wanted to personally discuss the ideas and stylistic directions he would pursue with author Villaneuve.
Initially, Baron Harkonnen was much smaller, but the producers kept asking the costume designers to make him bigger and bigger. Eventually, the team decided that some kind of fat suit would have to be made for the actor. The next question was: should the costume department make the oversized suit or should the makeup department? The job was left to the makeup department, as they anticipated that there would be scenes in the film that were less dressed, and the body would have to look realistic.

Mowat describes the makeup for Dave Bautista's character 'Beast' Harkonnen as more of a traditional theatrical makeup look. The only extras were to cover the eyebrows, everything else was done with paint.
🎬 The Eyes of Tammy Faye
Makeup and hair:
- Linda Dowds, Stephanie Ingram & Justin Railegh

The makeup artists for the film, which is based on true events, sometimes even say they felt sorry for actress Jessica Chastain, because she was covered in makeup and glued on from head to toe and dressed in "makeup armor."

Tammy Faye's makeup was a big part of her identity throughout her life, and it only became more dramatic as she got older. Achieving an iconic look was key to the film, as Tammy was known for her flashy style. The makeup department used everything from accessories and wigs to colored makeup and fake nails to create Tammy's signature look.

🎬 House of Gucci
Makeup and hair:
- Göran Lundström, Anna Carin Lock & Frederic Aspiras

For House of Gucci, the makeup team spent months watching documentaries, wedding photos, and memories of the Gucci family. Lady Gaga's own makeup artist Sarah Tanno also helped design the film's makeup.
The film showcases Patrizia Riggiani's style from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, skillfully executed. The team says the 70s were the most difficult, as no photos or videos were found before Patrizia and Maurizio's wedding photo.

The make-up was also done with numerous wigs and accessories. Actor Jared Leto is almost unrecognizable in the film. Make-up artist Göran Lundström was given only 3 weeks to prepare the make-up without even meeting the actor beforehand. He worked on a 3D model while looking at pictures and videos of Leto.
A three-piece bald head was made for Leto, and 1.5 hours were spent each time attaching it, in addition to the entire mask, which took hours.
