Makeup artist Ben Nye Sr. dedicated his entire life to creating his career. Working as one of Hollywood's most respected make-up artists for almost 50 years, Ben Nye created unforgettable make-up and masks for Hollywood's most famous actors and stars.
In 1943, Ben Nye was appointed head of makeup at 20th Century Fox, a position he held for 23 years. During that time, he was responsible for the mask design and implementation of more than 500 films! The biggest hits were e.g. Gone with the Wind and Planet of the Apes.
As an artist, Ben Nye created numerous specialty colors and products that have become essentials in the makeup industry. Ben Nye is the first artist who developed his own colors also for colored performers. He also developed the first color defect neutralizers. In 1967, Ben Nye registered his own line of cosmetics, which became known worldwide for its high quality. He developed both special products intended for professionals and colors aimed at consumers.

Dana Nye, who has been the company's director since 1975, is responsible for the birth of hundreds of new products.
